| | Ai Announces 2005 Research Objectives | | Savyon, Israel -- January 1, 2005 - Artificial Intelligence Research (Ai)
(http://www.a-i.com) announced today its main research objective for the year 2005.
These objectives constitute the progress Ai expects to make throughout the coming year. Top among these are:
1. HAL Research: In 2004, the TCL-based HAL2003 was ported to Java (and not C#, as was originally contemplated). HAL2004 was launched, later followed by yet another, new and experimental version: HAL3000. Several mature personalities were ported to the latest version, including Prentiss and Kevin. In 2005, HAL3000 will become the new baseline for the next generation of HALs, capable of handling hundreds of thousands of turns with deep context capabilities.
2. VP2 Technology: In 2004, the idea of a global state system was examined and dropped. Instead, a new concept was introduced: Virtual Personality on Key (VPoK): A stand-alone version of Alan, available on a DoK (Disk on Key). Consequently, in 2005 the number of sessions conducted with Alan is expected to grow geometrically.
3. Interactive Content: In 2004, Alan's content tree was reorganized to separate his specialized area of expertise (Artificial Intelligence) from the rest of the content. Based on the resulting "knowledge component" (all that Alan knows about the area of AI), a general template was defined, facilitating easy creation of new virtual personalities with other specialized areas of expertise. In 2005, Ai expects to create at least one new broad Virtual Personality (comparable to the scope of Alan).
4. Log Analysis: In 2004, the log viewing facility was expanded to include live sessions that were approved to be open to the public, including playback of completed sessions. In 2005, Ai's VP feedback loop (live sessions-> log analysis-> content modification) will be implemented for an additional personality, alongside Alan.
About Ai
Artificial Intelligence Research (Ai) is a groundbreaking research project, focusing on creating genuine Artificial Intelligence – the technology that enables machines to converse with humans in natural language. Ai's research facility is located in Savyon, Israel.
