|Experimental integration of Alan and VO Games interactive content technology|
|Savyon, Israel -- March 1, 2006 - Artificial Intelligence Research (Ai) |
(http://www.a-i.com) announced today an experimental integration of its pattern matching conversational technology (also known as 'Alan') with VO Games technology (http://www.vogames.co.uk).
Ai's "Interactive Content" functionality has been a long standing feature of Alan with the "Big Window" mode being something Alan himself likes to show off, particularly to new users. However, until now this feature has been mostly used by advanced trainers for analysis of the progressing conversation log and thought processes.
The existing key feature of Alan's user interface, used by VO Games to provide the "Interactive Alan Module", is the "show URL" function. Web based content specially designed for display and use through Alan brings a new dimension to the user experience. through the application of Flash based modules we can provide extensions to Alan with interactivity between the user, Alan and the modules themselves.
A suite of retro games to compliment Alan's historic persona was a logical choice for the initial experiment. Plans to further integrate additional modules include more advanced games, logic puzzles, educational content and potentially additional tools for the dedicated trainers of PVPs and HAL personalities.
Peter Wilkins, creator of the VO Games concepts and innovator of the integration project with Alan, sets a development objective:
"The end aim is to take Alan to a new level of interaction with the user, providing an engaging and varied environment designed to spark the imagination and captivate the attention of new users. I hope to see Alan regarded as more than just the best chatbot".
The new feature is activated by asking Alan to play a computer game or a similiar request. This input causes a launch of an interactive game in Alan's big window.
Artificial Intelligence Research (Ai) is a groundbreaking research project, focusing on creating genuine Artificial Intelligence – the technology that enables machines to converse with humans in natural language. Ai's research facility is located in Savyon, Israel.
