Language Acquisition - Core Readings
by Paul Bloom (ed.)

This book is a collection of works by the most prominent researchers in the field of language acquisition, and is intended as a snapshot of the sort of theory and research taking place in language acquisition during the last decade. The collection covers six topics: the onset of language development, word learning, syntax and semantics, morphology, language acquisition in special circumstances, and alternative perspectives.
The diverse writings and disciplines covered in the book materialize into a coherent picture of the debates and current interests in this field of research. All contributors take an interdisciplinary approach to language development, relating the study of how a child comes to possess a language to issues within linguistics, computational theory, biology, social cognition, and comparative psychology.
